My Ancestors Came With The Conqueror: Those who did, and some of those who probably did not. Anthony J. Camp
In 1931 a bronze tablet was set up in the Castle of Falaise in Normandy containing the names of 315 people who are described as the Knights who fought in the Battle of Hastings on 14th October 1066. Unfortunately, English historians have accepted little of the evidence on which this list was based, some concluding that only 15 'companions' could be established with any degree of certainty. In this booklet Anthony Camp explores the conflicting sources, and brings together references to the various versions of the so-called Battle Abbey Roll, with a comprehensive index of names and sources.
