Hi Bert What a great find 99% the right record and it seems to be the answer. From the run in 1914 and wanting to get married in 1916 he had to change his name. Tracking back through grandfathers sister (Ellen Maria) with some other papers I have and family bits. He was married out of Wylie street in St Marys Kirkdale.
Sorry to mess you about Bert but looking again at the marriage cert the name his Henry Clarendon Smith and signed that way
