Re: The Pridham family in Toxteth - 1920s-40

Hi and welcome to the forum, it's unfortunate but not all of the school records have survived, I'm not sure that there was any strict rule about whether to and where to deposit records and many may have just vanished into the ether. For photographs, social media is often the best place to enquire, t...

Re: Mother's Maiden Name on Births

Yes, maybe my explanation wasn't too clear, that's where the GRO search is more useful than the Findmypast search, I've amended above to clarify.

Re: Redmond/Redman

Be aware that if you aren't already a "friend" on Facebook, ie you have never previously made contact, a private message might not immediately be very obvious to the recipient, so also send a friend request to see if it will prompt them to look at their messages and see yours. I was successful in ma...

Re: Mother's Maiden Name on Births

still very grateful the GRO added the maiden names, certainly saved many lots of time and money. Absolutely, it's been a godsend and still will be because of the number of names that are spelled incorrectly, since the Findmypast search doesn't actually show the maiden name you can't just scroll dow...

Mother's Maiden Name on Births

I've found the GRO site extremely useful for matching children to both parents, but it's a bit of a pain that you can only search male or female and +/- 2 years each side, bit restricted. Findmypast has come along in leaps and bounds - you might need to log in to test this out but if you put in the ...

Re: Redmond/Redman

I've been admiring the work done by Bert throughout this thread, amazing! I'm sorry I had to edit a line above but although you may research living people, we don't name them on here to preserve their privacy. Marriage records are only before 2003. There are I think five places in the country that h...

Re: UK Census for Army Barracks

I often imagine the enumerators at the end of a long day with the prospect of an evening re-writing all those pages trying to make sense of them all, probably first puts his feet up with a glass of beer, and I'm not the slightest bit surprised that a few mistakes creep in, particularly when only the...

Re: Relationships

I know the relationships don't work out this way, but the above just brought to mind an old poem I'd heard of ages ago, so I know it will bring a smile to your face. I Am My Own Grandpa by Moe Jaffe and Dwight Latham Many, many years ago when I was twenty-three, I got married to a widow who was as p...

Re: George Naden (Jnr) and Mrs Eliza Naden

There's a death, Elizabeth Naden, 1929, Prescot, 8b 1234, age 74.. Perhaps Rainhill Hospital? When the Prescot registration district pops up unexpectedly we often do associate it with Rainhill which is a great source of information, possibly even a photograph. I would suggest that you contact the L...

Re: What a name!

We've heard Myko previously at one of his talks at the library, he works for Findmypast and is also very knowledgeable about Ireland.

Coincidentally this same birth was mentioned at our last meeting - notice that there is no first name beginning with P!!

Re: PATRICK FITZPATRICK married MARY LITTLE - settled in WARRINGTON

Next, Ford Cemetery, did it have a church ? I have goggled and cannot find anything for one or for BAPTISM records. If there wasn't a church at Ford Cemetery, what would be the nearest for Roman Catholics ? I did notice on the Burials, all of them was Direct to the Grave, so no service. Just to cla...

Re: Photo wanted: Rock Mount, Aigburth

The map was provided by a man called Dave Bridson, very popular guy around the Liverpool Groups and often has photographs, I believe he may have been a Society member, if not now then in the past.
